&&Follow through, make your dreams come true _ &&Don't give up the fight _ &&You'll be alright _ &&Cause there's noone _ &&In the universe like you _
Four powerful flints beat out a path in the damp ground, debris spraying out behind him in cascades. The trees loomed suddenly out of the gloom, great thick oaks with their ancient branches creaking to uphold their olive green burdens. Each sudden appearance of a tree caused the might creature to serve suddenly, weaving round the trees like bending poles. He made the uncertain path seem easy, yet if another attempted to persue him at such speeds, they would easily crash straight into one of the trees, whose old mouths would whisper laughter to the winds, branches swaying in their quiet laughter.
Yes, often these woods where considered trecherous, haunted, yet it was simply one of those old tales, which hagged wives had told their children to prevent them from playing in the darkness. A darkness which was more a comforting blanket to the horse rather than a sheet which smothered the sights of the twinkling stars and deep set sky above. In this gloom, noone but creatures with the most practised eyes would be able to decipher his colour. The hot flames flashing grey in the half-light, like at midnight, when the rolling hills and forest where coloured an unearthly silver and shades of grey. Only those who did not fear the darkness that night brought, could appriechiate it.
Finally, the rythmn of the horse slowed, and it pulled back to a halt, crania turning to figure out it's direction. The orbs where odd, a ghostly emerald that shone with alertness in the quiet. How odd, that a horse could have such coloured eyes. Anyone who would see the horse, would flee, and the stallion would become a silent horror of the humans nightmares.
Yet looks had always decieved people. For this fiery stallion with it's other-worldly green eyes, was no murderous animal. No savage creature with the intent of killing. No, he was a human. Well, inside he were human. His name was Leonardo Samuel Honeyset, and he was a shape-shifter. He had never shown anybody his talent, and had simply blended with ease into the background of melodramatic life. Nobody had ever even suspected of where he went when he dissapeared into the gloom of the forest for a 'walk' or why his bed stood empty in his house almost every night. He prefered the night, with his silent caresses and gentle winds. He loved the silence, a silence that pressed upon others ears, and yet he eveloped it. He loved the way that he could clatter through a sleeping town, and hear nothing but the gentle snores of the people. Leo hated being named a freak, and he'd vowed he would never again become the subject of normal peoples taunts.
'Normal' Leo stewed over the word as he picked his path at a long, smooth walk. What was there in this world that was 'normal' anymore. Everybody was running around as a vampire, a vampyre, a werewolf or a shape-shifter, there were just less of those who had ever shown it. No wonder, if the welcome of showing their horrors was to be teased, bullied, taunted. Leo's previous school years had been filled with fights and scuffles, where his hot-headedness had refused to allow anyone to taunt him. But the more he fought back, the more the other boys had teased him, enjoying his torment and retaliation.
Leo shook his magnificent chestnut head, feeling his lighter, almost flaxen forlock drape into his orbs, much like his hair did in his human form. His long, power pistons had no problems picking out a safe path back round the trees. It was odd, but most people would him a thoroughbred. Shapeshifters were not a specific breed, as their animal forms where usually interpretations of their humans selfs, and as nobody was a pure breed at heart, they where not a pure breed as an animal.
Leo reached the edges of the forest, able to decipher the edge as a lighter darkness, more like charcoal than pitch. There was a sense of open space, though it was impossible to see anything more than vauge shapes that where darker than the night. A silver moon laid a ribbon of moonlight across the grey hills, a winding pathway that trailed toward the edges of the huge field, before being swallowed by the darkness of the wild hedges. Leo had not conciously thought of going home, yet no he yearned for it. His pace quickened as he neared the open space where he could gallop silently, mane dyed grey, yet dipped in white by the lights of the winking stars. That was the best part of being a horse - the speed. Not only that, but the taller height, the sense of magnificent power and magesty that this form had. The picture of innocence until a human noticed his odd green orbs against his chestnut colouring in the darkness, and that was usually when the screaming began. Though Leo had always love the uniqueness of his emerald eyes, he sometimes cursed them for standing out in his horse form, so that the peace that he found in this form, was often shattered by the image of his eyes. They ruined it. Without those eyes, he could've easily trotted into a stable yard and acted like a lost horse. But he couldn't be attatched to people like that, for they would freak when he transformed, or report him a missing or stolen horse if he suddenly dissapeared, then that would certainly cause problems if he got sighted in that form again.
Leo snorted then hesitated on the fringe of the trees. Something wasn't right. The silence wasn't so calm. It was loaded, like in a movie right before somebody turns around and has a gun to their head, like the night was holding its breath. His audits twitched, attempting to catch the slighter sounds that where magnified by the horse form's better senses. A deaffening crack echoed from his right, and the shapeshifter cried out which become a startled whinny, and spun round to face the figure which appeared as a silhoette against the thicker blanket of darkness that swirled around it. . .

riding Midnight out in the woods was a good idea. I needed some time to myself. Good thing no human was here. I had my who face showing. Tattoos and all. I had just gotten the tattoos when i saved a small horse from certain death last week. They were around my eyes and coming off my cresent moon that was now filled in. I had my cowboy hat on just in case it started to rain. I came to a clearing and noticed a chesnut horse. It reminded me of Pheonix. Leo's horse. Well, Leo was my now Imprinted boyfriend that i fell in love with in about an hour after meeting him at the barn.
I grabbed my rope that was tied to my saddle horn and was about to throw it at the horse who i thought was Pheonix. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. I was not sure if "Pheonix" had gotten out by himself while he was out in the pasture or somethign. I remember seeing him when i had gotten Midnight ready for a ride out here. I then let my breath out slowly and was about to throw it at the neck of the powerful horse when i noticed the eyes of the horse. It was Leo.

Lids flittered open to reveal sleepy lavender orbs as the girl suddenly awoke. At first she wondered whether she really was awake, as the darkness that surrounded her hadnt changed since she opened her eyes. But alas, awake she was. Once she came to terms with this though, it didn't really surprise her at all. She had quite a bit of trouble sleeping these past few weeks, with no explanation at all. As a small sigh escaped her parted lips, the teen slowly got out of bed. She walked into the bathroom, not bothering to check the time. It was dark, and that's all she needed. Turning on the tap, she splashed cold water over her face, waking her immediately, and any wanted slumber disappeared from her completely. Returning to the bedroom, she stopped by the window, the cutains open to show the darkness of the night. Nothing stirred out there, no movement what so ever. Good. It meant she could do what she usually did in these situations. Go for a walk. Quickly changing into some clothes, a pair of jees and a faded tee, she locked up and left the house. She headed towards the forest. Of course, there was nobody around, but she still felt better under cover. Just in case. She knew how freaked out some people got when they found out about her, abilities, per say.
Quickly glancing around to make sure she was alone, the girl closed her now sky blue eyes, and focused. She could feel her body changing, though it didn't hurt whatsoever. Just an odd, but wonderful tingling sensation filled her from head to toe. When she finally opened her eyes, she was a human teenager no more. She stood now as a beautiful young horse. Picking up one of her sharp flints, the mare pawed the ground, shaking her head playfully and sending her chocolate coloured tresses flying everywhere. It truely was an amazing feeling. All her senses where hightened as a horse. The smells of the night filled her dilated nares with every breath, every sound picked up by her large auds. But the feeling, one of joy, was the strongest of them all. It made her want to laugh out loud, to run, to jump, to dance. And at the moment, she didn't care who saw her. Standing up on her hind legs to give a small rear, the mare snorted happily, before leaping forwards towards the forest. As her flints hit the ground, she began to run. It started as a bouncy canter, fast, but not rushed. Then her strides began to lengthen, ivory dipped pillas pushed her lean bodice harder, further, faster. Soon enough, the mare was galloping, carefully weaving between the trees, that were just waiting with mischievous eyes for her to crash.
Ah, but crash she didn't. It would seem practically impossible for any creature to move so fast, without hitting one of those many trees. And yet she managed the feat with ease. The trees didn't bother her at all. She remembered how it had surprised her, to find out how much control she had as an equine. Any creature really. It just seemed to come naturally to her. Galloping on, the mare leapt agiley from side to side, avoiding the many trees, her swift pace not slowing once during her journey. Not that she knew where she was going. She just felt like running. But running where? The thought made her slow down into a brisk trot before finally stopping. Right, so here she was in the middle of the forest, with no idea where she was going or what she was going to do. She pondered the thought for a moment, wondering if she should just go home. But for some reason, the idea just didn't seem right to her. No, she felt as though she was here for a reason, what ever that may be. Like there was something more to it. Suddenly, a light wind blew through the trees, and as she lifted her well defined skullery to breath in the cool breeze, her wide nares picked up something more. A scent. Letting out a surprised snort, the fae immediately glanced around, but saw nothing but trees and darkness. Even so. She was not alone.
The wind was blowing in such a way, that the creature, whose scent she was picked up, would not smell her. Well, not until she got closer. But did she really want to do that. She had no idea who the stranegr could be. A friend, or foe? She was too far away to even be able to tell what they were. Heck, it could just be a wild animal. But once again she got the feeling that there was more to this, that the creature wasn't just some wild boar at all. Despite her nervousness, the mare started towards the creature at a light jog. It was often unfortunate at how her curiousness often got the better of her common sense. It was like in those old horror movies. The ones where you scream at the screen, telling the girl not to go outside, not to go into that spooky, mist filled graveyard, but they do anyway. Usually ending up getting eaten or killed by some scary monster. She really hoped that the scent she was following wasn't that of a scary monster. That would just be annoying. As the scent grew stronger, she suddenly slowed to a walk. It's not that she was sneaking up on it, she just wanted to see what it was before it saw her. Her steps were slow, but silent. She moved like a shadow through the trees. In fact, her pelt had darkened to a dark brown, almost black in colour, to keep her hidden in the darkness of the night. That's when she saw a flicker of chestnut within the black.
She stopped, watching the creature before her. It was a horse. Sky blue optics strained to see the equine, and she finally decided to get a bit closer. Still moving as silently as before, she eventually stoped a short distance away, a few paces at most. He was a handsome stallion, she gave him that. But was he a horse? So yes, he looked like one sure, but then, so did she. And she was definately a human. Well, shapeshifter, but you get what I mean. Orbs looked over the fiery hue. He looked like a thoroughbred, but not. Like there was more than just one breed running through his viens. Still, he was tall. Much taller in fact than herself. Storng, powerful looking, she hoped that the stallion, be he horse or shifter, wasn't some psycho killer. Then, she made the mistake of taking a small step forwards. But not looking where she had clumsily placed her metalic flint, she had managed to step on a small twig. The crack it made was faint, but in the silence of the night, it sounded as loud as thunder. The stag let out a startled whinny and spun around to face her. Realising that she was still a mere shadow, with her darknened pelt, she returned to her regular brown hue and with a small sigh, stepped forwards, making herself shown.
The first thing she noticed about the stallion now that she could see his face were his eyes. They were green, a gorgeous emerald colour. So he was a shape shifter. After all, she had never seen a horse with eyes that colour. Damn. Just then she remembered about her own bright blue pools. Well so much for that. Smiling slightly, the fae took a few tentative steps towards the stallion, though made sure not to get too close. She stretched out her arched boa towards him, sniffing him from a distance. But no, she definately didn't want to get too close. Not only because she had no idea who he was, but also because he was just that much bigger than her. While his form was tall and powerful, hers was a little different. While he resembeled a thoroughbred, her form was more like that of an arabian. Or an akhal-teke, though smaller, more petite. She was lean, though it could be mistaken as thin, and that only made her look even smaller and fragile looking. That being said, she was no where near fragile. Sure, she had muscle, even though you could hardly tell, and she definately knew how to stand up for herself. Usually. But with a shapeshifter, you could never tell. Deciding to break the silence between them, the fae brought back her crown and nickered a soft greeting. "Hey." She tried to sound confident, but she couldn't help but feel that a bit of her hesitation and nervousness had come out through her words. Well, word. Cocking one of her hind flints casually, she waited on the other's responce.

His unusual orbs watched with great interest, and a certain amount of wary nervousness, as a slight femme moved into the light. Leo whinnied in shock, nares flaring as a cautious wind blew wisps of her scent toward him. Odd, how he had raced joyfully through the dark forest, and yet never caught a sight of this other, not a scent nor a sound. Well, then again he hadn't exactly thought anyone else would be around this late.
But this mare was not just a horse, as you would've been able to believe had it not been for a light sky orbs. Leo dipped his crania politely at her, after all he was still a gentleman, and he always enjoyed company ... so long as it was the right kind. Here was another being, much like himself, who'd snuck out into the night to enjoy it's silent company. He knew that people them him and this unknown female where a rare kind, and not always appriechiated in society. Damn, he wondered if she'd ever been teased and taunted, back when she was young and innocent, and had much less control over her ability.
That tiny innocent word that she whickered to him, caught him by surprise. He'd only ever met one other shape-shifter before, and it had been a very unpleasent experience. He'd been walking peacefully through a woods much like this, when a large wolfhound X had scampered toward him though the darkness. Leo hadn't been sure what to do when the dog had stopped, it's head on one side to consider him for a moment. It was silent for two heartbeat, even the wind had stopped, waiting ... Leo had only time to notice the dog white eyes before it'd lept at him, a snarling, mucular mass. It had been a terrible scrap, but Leo had eventually thrown off the being and galloped forwards, leaving the creature, which had then transformed and he could hear swearing after him, far behind.
Yet this mare seemed too nice. Right? Leo took a tentive step forward, awear of the tension on the large space between them, and knowing then that this other was no savage killer. " Hi. " He whickered in return, then hesitated. What did one say when they came across another of their kind? Humans got along easy, and if he'd been in his human form it would've been easy, but he wasn't. It almost felt like he'd been caught naked, for he felt suddenly bare. He decided to offer his name, that would be a lot easier. " I'm Leonardo Honeyset. But please, call me Leo. " He spoke. It was so odd communcating as a horse, but it meerly felt like a second language, like a human would be able to speak Spanish or French, though they came from England. Indeed, Leo had been taught Italian and French. But he never usually spoke either language. Animal language was more a second tounge now, not that he told anyone that ..
Another sound caught his auds, and they flickered to his left to catch the careful footfalls of another horse. Leo only felt a second of waryiness, how odd if this where another shape-shifter, yet he could tell by the weighted footsteps that this other carried a human, and it was a mare. Crap. If a human were coming this way, it would be odd to find two horses, with the most ghostly coloured orbs, staring at each other almost silently, across a large space. Leo snorted and tossed his magnificent head, feeling the long ribbons of his chestnut mane dance when he moved, and he turned his head to watch the other move into the moonlight.
Oh God. It was Sorya. His emerald orbs could see the cowboy had slung low over her forehead, so she seemed to be taking no chances with anybody seeing her odd mark that Leo knew was there. Beneath the shadow that was cast by the hat, he could see a glimmer of her beautiful eyes, and then the shadow of her perfect nose, and full lips. He knew that the dark horse beneath her was actually ebony, not meerly dyed black by the night, and it was easy to tell that this mare was a horse. For there was no seeming awearness that came of the other shapeshifter, no sense that the black mare was more than a mare. She was Sorya's horse.
Leo watched Sorya's warily, his orbs holding her gaze as she closed her eyes and slowly reopened them. Her hand movement caught his eye, and he whinnied in terror. No! She couldn't catch him! There would follow a whole host of crap if she did. He'd have to be led about to a stables, and then transform infront of who knows. There was one major problem of shape-shifter. Clothes did not come with you when you transformed, for if you did transform in them, they where always shredded to oblivion. That was why Leo felt so damn naked out here with these others looking at him, if he was forced to transform, he would be exactly that .. er naked.

Abbey Sue was practically holding her breath as the stag stepped forwards, making the small distance between them even smaller. And it would seem as though the rest of the forest did too. The wind had completely died down and no longer blew through the trees, rustling their leaves. Nothing stirred now, as all awaited the stallions next actions. He spoke. A word. Though be it just one little word, it changed everything. Almost. Sort of. It eased the nervousness Abbey Sue could feel in her gut, not knowing what to expect of this stranger. But not just any stranger, a shape shifter. And she only knew how dangerous they could be. More so than any vampire or werewolf in fact. They had surprise on their side. But anyways, even with just one word, the stag managed to sooth her worry. After all, he seemed nice enough. He had said hi, hadn't he. A small smile appeared on the faes maw, as she gave a small dip of her crown. Lifting her head back to it's regular height, she looked away slightly, not trying to seem rude by staring. Oh, this is a bit awkward. She really didn't know what to say. For once she wished she was in her human form. Everything was so much easier as a human. Well, communicating and meeting new people was in any case. But as a horse, or any animal really, she just didn't know how to act. Not with other shapeshifters anyways. Even other horses were easier to talk to than them. Odd. Auds swivelled towards the stag as he spoke once more. Thank goodness for that. Smiling once more, she answered immediately. "Well it's nice to meet you Leo. I'm Abbey Sue. Benson." her words were slightly clumsily spoken, but at least they sounded pretty positive. And hopefully friendly too. After all, there weren't a lot of shifters around , well not that she knew of, and it'd be nice to have a friend who knew what she went through.
Suddenly, she heard a faint thundering in the distance and turned her auds towards it. She recognised the sound immediately. Hoofbeats. It was another horse. She listenned on, and noticed that the footfalls sounded a lot heavier than that of a wild horse. This one had a rider. Oh no, what would she do. What could she do. She couldn't let a human see her. But wait, they wouldn't know that she was a shifter, would they? No, to anyone who didn't know it was her, she looked just like an ordinary horse. Except her eyes. No, she wouldn't forget this time. Closing them shut, she concentrated for a second or two, before opening them once more. Now they were a dull dark brown. Completely ordinary. Then the mare came into view, her rider sitting confidently upon her back. What should she do? Act. Like a wild horse would. As the horse and it's rider approached them, Abbey Sue gave a small half rear, whinnying shrilly. She took a few lengthy strides away until she was behind Leo and then pulled up to a halt. It was like she was hiding behind him. Actually, no, that was exactly what she was doing. Turning her crown to look at the human, she held back a gasp. It was Sorya. The vampyre she had met at the mall. This definately wasn't good. She couldn't let her know it was her. Sure, the teen already knew she wasn't human, if that, but that didn't mean it was safe to tell her about being a shifter. Not yet anyway. Not until she could trust her more. She nickered to the chestnut stallion nervously, as if asking him what to do. For he just stood there. Actually, he didn't just stand there. He closed his eyes! Okay, so good idea, sort of. At least now she couldn't see his emerald green eyes, if she hadn't notied them already. But seriously, what kind of a wild horse would just stand there with it's eyes closed. It was like asking to be captured. orbs flittered back to the girl, focusing on her hands as she moved them. A rope! No, she couldn't possibly. Was she trying to capture them? As Leo let out a terrified whinny, she did the same, taking a few bunny hops further away. She didn't want to be captured, definately not, but she didn't want to leave Leo either. She felt safer with him around. So she stood, waiting to see what the girl would do, alert and ready to run if things went bad.

I then got off Midnight and took my hat off for him to see my new tattoos that were surrounding my eyes. Intricate swirls coming from the cresent moon. I walked up to the horse and touched his cheek. I knew it was the man i loved inside this horse and the man that i imprinted with a few days ago. I gently kissed his forhead and looked at him. I did not realize it was you until i saw your eyes. I thought you were Pheonix, and i was going to bring you back to the stables. I then kissed his forehead again and walked back to Midnight. I remembered that before i imprinted with him that he told me that he was a shaftshifter. I then looked back at him for a moment and smiled. I grabbed my cowboy hat and out it back on and mounted Midnight.
I did not want to leave. But what did Leo want me to do? I knew that sunrise was going to be soon and i would have to gat inside or elese my eyes would start burning soon. I then yawned and leaned on Midnights neck and closed my eyes for a bit. I then decided that i was going to sleep out here for the night. I unsaddled Midnight, took her saddle and put it on the groud, grabbed a blanket that i had in her saddle bag and let Midnight lay down. I rested my head on her back and covered myself with the blanket and slept.
As i slept, i started to dream about Leo and me. So i said his name a few times in my sleep. I knew that i would not be able to make it back to the stables before dawn. I owuld have fallen off Midnight and hurt myself if i tried.

The stag nodded his great head at Abbey Sue in greeting. " Pleasure to meet you, Abbey Sue. " He replied, a slight smile upon his maw (if a horse can smile). She seemed less nervous now, and he was pleased. For she seemed like an honest, kind person. The kinda person that Leo would have as a best mate. Of course, prehaps this meeting would cause something like that to happen. He ignored Sorya for a moment, knowing that Abbey was a lot more nervous, and she needed to understand. He watched her in confusion as she closed her orbs, his head cocked to one side, long banner flicked away the flies that dared rest upon his flanks. It was way past midnight now, and the darkness was slowly diluting to a deep grey. Leo saw Abbey's lid open again, and he whickered in quiet surprise as the now chocolate brown colour.
Leo turned his head to Sorya again, unsure what to do. He knew what he felt for her was love, but he felt that it was all moving too fast, and he hadn't been sure about showing his shapeshifting self to her as yet. But, hay ho. Leo lowered his crania as he felt her lips touch his forhead and he sighed gently. At her soft words, his audits flickered to catch, he whickered gently, in an animal impression of a chuckle. He had only ever shown his horse self to one other, who'd also commented on the likeliness between him and his first horse. Prehaps that was why he suited Phoenix so well, becuase they where the same in spirit.
Now, Phoenix heard a flurry of movement behind him, and the corner of his orb caught Abbey as she whirled to stand behind him. Ah, he still needed to explain. For a moment, Leo turned his back on Sorya, his face kindly as his emerald orbs locked onto Abbey Sue's chocolate one's. He was pleased, though, that she had chosen to stand behind him, and that, prehaps this did mean the start of friendship.
" It's alright, i know this girl. Her name's Sorya Jones, and she knows i'm a shapeshifter, and she doesn't mind either. It's fine, she wont hurt us. I promise. " Leo bent his crania toward her, his orbs soft in the hope that she would put his trust in her. If he hadn't known who this girl was, he would've made her run away while he turned to protect her. But Sorya was his .. well he wasn't entirely sure if she was his girlfriend yet or not. huh.
As he watched her turn away, he sighed again, nuzzling her soft cheek with his muzzle before whickering gently goodnight. He knew she'd need the sleep, for the dawn was slowly breaking over the land. Time seemed to mean less here, when the deep forest breathed slow and deep, and the night was endless until light forced it's way over the land for a while, until darkness coul engluf it for night once more.
Now, Leo turned to Abbey Sue. He loved the night and it's protective blanket, and now, it was time to return home. He needed to get at least a couple hours sleep before he got up to feed his horses. Yet, horses in plural. He owned three, two that he kept at home and one at the stables. Some people thought that odd, as he had six stables on his estate. But Leo had plenty of reasons. One of the horses he owned at home was called Windsong, and she was a pretty palomino mare, who had now turned 17years, and was Leo's gentle hack. He couldn't forgive himself if he ever sold her, and she was peaceful as a gentle ride now and then. His other horse was another mare, Diverse Illusion or, Oblivion she he'd named in at home, and she was only young, just 7 years of age. But he'd brought her pregnant, and she kept her at home while he awaited the birth of her foal, whom he already had some ideas of names for.
" Whereabouts do you live? " Leo asked Abbey. " Would you mind if i walked you home? " He asked her, head cocked to one side. He hoped she'd agree, for he wanted to know more about her. Like when did she realised her ability, what did she do, how long had she been here and what had she been up to? Just generally friendly questions while they would walk through the beginning dawn, as the villages still slept unawear.

Chocolate brown orbs were fixed on the vampyre as she slid off her horse, removing her hat. Abbey Sue wondered what she was doing that for when she saw the intricate swirls that were coming off the cresent moon in the middle of her forhead. She could've sworn the tattoos were new, not being there the last time she met the girl. She snorted hesitantly as she walked over to Leo, curiously watching on as he actually allowed her to. Not just get closer to him, but he let her touch his cheek, kissing his forhead. Okay, so perhaps they had met before? I mean, people didn't usually just walk over to random horses and kiss them, did they? Well, not that she knew of in any case. Auds turned towards the teen as she spoke, her words clearly meant for the stallion, or rather, the guy inside the horse, if that made any sense. She definately recongised him. Wait, did that mean that she would recognise her too? No, how could she. Not only was she a horse, and she was pretty sure that Sorya didn't yet know about her being a shapeshifter even though she probably suspected her non human-ness, but there really was nothing to seperate her from any other wild horse, nothing that made her stand out, seem extraordinary. She had made sure of that. She was just a regular brown horse, if a very pretty one at that, with regular brown horse eyes. Nothing special here. Lets hope the girl thought so too. After kissing him on the forhead again, she walked back to her horse, and Abbey Sue was almost certain that she would leave now. She put her cowboy hat back on her head and mounted the black mare. Okay, so even though she had been riding for almost all her life, she couldn't help but feel odd about it. She knew she definately wouldn't want some heavy human sitting on her back, weighing her down when she ran, jumped. But then again, she wasn't a normal horse, was she. She shrugged the thought away and watched the girl to see what she'd do next.
As the girl bent low on her mares neck, Abbey Sue turned her attention to the chestnut who spoke to her now. She gave a small nod, knowing that he spoke the truth. After all, she too had met the vampyre before and knew that she was a kind person, a friend. "I too have met her, but she doesn't yet know who, or rather, what I am. And I was hoping that would stay that way, for now at least, so don't mind my acting." She replied, a hint of humour in her voice. Really, all the terror, the flightiness, it was all an act. She wanted the girl to think she was just a wild horse, nothing special. It would just be easier that way. For now at least. Until she managed to get enough courage to tell her about her shifting. Looking back at Sorya, she watched the girl untack the mare and grab a blanket out of the saddlebag. As the ebony mare lay down, so did the girl, resting her head on the equines back, coering herself with the blanket. wait, so she was going to sleep here? In the middle of the forest. Okay, so Abbey Sue definately found that a little parculiar, but she didn't say anything. It's not like she'd be able to understand her even if she did. She was sort of a horse right now. Before long, the girls breathing became deeper, and she knew that she was asleep. She moved slightly, dreaming most likely, mummbling something in her sleep. Abbey Sue wondered if she would be alright out here by herself. Ah, but she wasn't by herself really. She had the mare to keep her safe, as she had no doubt that she would. As the stallino turned towards her, she looked at him, waiting to hear his next words, as she was sure that some would come soon. However, when he did speak, it definately wasn't what she was expecting. He wanted to walk her home? Well, that sure was nice of him. As he tilted his dome to the side, she couldn't help but smile, nodding her own lightly in agreeance. "Of course, I'd appreciate the company." She said happily. She took one last look at the sleeping vampyre before turning towards the direction of her home. She took a few small steps forwards, as if allowing the stallion to catch up and walk beside her, before continuing on at her regular pace. Walking pace that is. Seemingly brisk, but not rushed. She simply walked as if she had a spring in her step. Turning her crown slightly to look at him, she could tell that he had some questions for her. Who didn't really. So she figured she'd better just let him ask. She didn't mind after all. "You look like you have something to ask." She said with a smile. "Ask away."

I opened my eyes as i watched them talk. Midnight then shifted her weight and i felt my head hit the hard ground. I then sat up and rubbed my head where it contacted the ground. I knew there was going to be a bump there in the morrning. I looked at Leo for a moment and smiled. I then coughed for a second because i felt something in my throat. But i was not able to get it out. I cintinued to cough for a few more minutes till i was able to get it out. I grabbed my water that was in my saddle bag and drank for a moment. Better. I hope he did not think i was rejecting the Change. I did not want to scare him. I sighed. I knew Nyx wanted me to stay alive for some reason. I whispered to Nyx to protect Leo and please let him stay with me. I then started to get cold during the night. I knew about my abilities as a vampyre.
Fire i call on you to help keep me warm. Fire come to me! At that moment, i heard a sound like a camp fire and could feel the warmth surround me.

Leo glanced back over one chestnut shoulder at the sleeping figure, snorting softly as she mumbled a word that sounded a lot like his name. But she was sleeping, and that was kinda what he needed to do before the sun rose to quickly. After all, he didn't want to be trotting along beside Abbey Sue at the beginning of the day with people looking out their windows at them. Shapeshifters where, and always would be, and secret society. For though it where modern day, and other species where more or less accepted in this world, Shapeshifters where not. It bothered Leo, but to be honest, he much prefered the peace of the night.
As he slung his head round to face Abbey's horse form again, he listened to her reply and nodded in understanding. Sure, he hadn't been ready to show himself yet either, but it'd happened and now there was no going back. At least she hadn't ran off like his last girlfriend. Leo shivered. He hadn't even been planning on showing her his horse form, and they'd been pretty close even when they'd split up. But she'd come across him in the darkness one night, and had pretty much freaked when she'd seen his ghostly green eyes copied into his chestnut horse form. They'd bearly spoken since.
Leo didn't realise that the mare had walked on until he felt the emptiness of the space she'd left behind, and he snorted and hurried into a trot to catch up. This was what he loved, the speed. His paces where long and smooth and easy to adjust. He always found the rutted ground much easier to take in animal form, and he loved the sense of power and surefootedness that he had in this new body. The chestnut slowed as he reached her side, his walk settled into a pace to match hers, quick and agile, yet not harassed. The trees seem to move out of their way as they walked, and for a moment, Leo forgot his questions and revelled in the peace of the night. It was so much nicer than he would've thought, to be beside another like himself and share the dark. Leo had relaxed with wild horses before in the quiet, eating grass beside their silent bodies while the light slowly crept up on him. Yes, grass was much tastier than he'd ever have believed .. but only in a form of animal which ate grass. The horses had been unbelieably calm and enjoyable for company, and he'd even been able to communicate with them. But it was hard to find some animals who liked his presence, for their senses knew he was weird, and their instincts told them to flee. Plus, whenever he found a herd that would accept him, he got so caught up in their emotions that he often became wild himself. At a time when he'd felt more alone than ever, he'd travelled weeks with a wild mustang herd, who'd accepted him as one of their own and had taken him across deserted lands to near here. But wild animals always frightened them, and instead of seeing sense and changing to the threatening animal to scare off the other threat, he'd been frightened himself and ran with them. Now, Abbey's words brought him back.
" I just wondered ... When did you find out that you had this ability? And what did you do? " He asked.

The fae turned her well chiseled crown to face the direction in which she was heading, making sure not to crash into any trees. However, it would seem that she hadn't much to worry about. The trees, though growing quite densely in this part of the forest, were hardly in her way at all. A small step to the side, and her path would be clear once more. Hearing the stag speak, both auds and skullery turned to face him once more, as the young mare listened to his question. She thought that he might ask something like that. Smiling, she thought for a second or two, before her own sweet lyri were sent forth through the still morn', breaking the silence of the forest. "Actually, I had always known. So did my parents, from the day I was born. They say that they first realised when my eye colour kept changing. You'd think they'd freak or something, but aparently my gran was a shifter too, so I guess they expected something like that to happen." She paused, thinking about how lucky she was that her parents had understood that who she was, her ability to shapeshift, was a gift, and not a curse. They had never turned their backs on her, or teased her about it, or done anything to hurt her. Instead, they loved her, which was all she could ask for. In fact, they did more than just that. They had even moved to the country for her, leaving the rich city lifestyle they had enjoyed so much, not to hide her away from the world, too embarressed to be seen with such a freak. But for her own protection and wellbeing. So that she could have a fairly normal childhood, and so that she could learn to control her emotions and in time her shape changing too. Not a day went by that she wasn't grateful for all that her parents gave up in exchange for raising their little girl. They realy were amazing. Sighing softly as she thought of them, of how much she loved and missed them, she continued on with her story. The boy deserved an answer after all.
"Anyways, after I was born, we moved to the country, living on my gran's ranch. well, it had been hers, before she passed away. It took a while, but I eventually learnt to control my emotions and even learnt how to shapeshift when I wanted, only when I wanted. I wasn't really that hard I suppose. To me, it was just another thing I had to learn to do. Like walking, or talking. By the time I was old enough to go to school, I could shift whenever I liked, and could stop myself from changing accidently. Though that really wasn't too difficult, seeing as there wasn't a lot that made me that sad or angry, you know? Life was pretty sweet back then, all simple and easy.." She said with a chuckle, deciding to stop before she rambled on too much. She decided not to mention the not-so-nice parts of her past. She didn't want to bore the poor guy after all, and she was pretty sure that he would find her ramblings boring. Most people did. All people want is the nitty gritty. They don't care about all the sticky stuff in the middle that keeps the story, the life, together. It just gets stuck between your fingers. Anyways. Abbey Sue found herself glancing towards the stallion as he walked beside her every now and again, wondering what the chestnut thoroughbred-look-alike looked like in his human form. Well, from his height now, she assumed that he was pretty tall, though that could just be because of his personality. It was usually pretty simple to distinguish what a human would look like as an animal, but it was often much harder the other way round. Oh well, she figured she'd find out eventually. After all, she hoped that she'd see the guy again one day. Her curiosity building up, she couldn't help but ask a question in turn. "So what about you, how long have you known?" She asked, looking over at him as she waited for his responce.

His auds flickered to her and he listened to a shortened version of her story with interest. When she'd finnished, he felt a kind of sorrow within him. It seemed that she'd had an easy life, people had accepted her for what she was and gone out of their way to make things easier for her. How Leo wished it could've been that way for him. He held back the sigh that wished to escape his maw, and instead, settled on walking peacfully beside her for a few moments. He was sure she would ask him in return the same question, but what should he say? That there had been few who'd loved his talent and enjoyed it, that there had been more who'd found it fun to torment him, to piss him off until he couldn't control his temper and shapeshifted? School had been tough, but it'd helped shape his character.
Yes. She did ask him, and he decided on a shortened version of the truth. At first, he didn't know how to start, so he took his time. " Well, i have not known for as long as you. It seemed that the ability hid inside me for a long time, biding it's time. " He finally began, thinking carefully over his words before he spoke them. " I have a huge family, see. Three brothers and two sisters. We had to share a lotta things, but we had a decent sized house in the countryside. But i had a really really good mate, with an unusualy name, Adonis, and my now ex-girlfriend, Dylan, and they kept me from going insane. We where not a close family. " Leo paused and frowned, avoiding the mares eyes now. " but i always felt that my siblings where the most important people in my life, becuase we all took care of each other. I have two twins, Lily and Logan, and we're prehaps the closest out of all my family. " He took a deep breath. " But i found out i could shapeshift one day when i was 12. My mum was having one of her angry bursts, and i remember her almost throwing me across the room, then she turned on Lily, and i just lost it. I exploded into this wolf thing and nearly tore her head off. It freaked me and her out so much, that i had to run. " These where the parts of his life he never knew he'd be speaking, but he trusted Abbey. He skipped some parts, not wanting anything to get too dark. " Anyway, my brothers came looking for me after a few weeks and Logan found me. He persuaded me to come back, and that i wasn't the freak that i thought i was. He said that i was still he brother and he still loved me. That made all the difference so i went back. But i wasn't accepted by any means. Mum hated me for what i'd nearly done, and i would've hated myself for it, had she not been so cruel that i still wanted to rip her head off. My dad was the one who kept the peace, and though he was freaked, he tried to help me. He and my siblings where able to help me get a grip on my ability so i could do it when i wanted. But anger was still my weakness. " Leo paused again, wondering if he was speaking too much. He watched a small grey squirrel peek hesitatly out of a bush, before skampering fast up a nearby tree trunk and dissapearing into the leaves. Light was coming faster now, but Leo did not think about the consequences of getting caught acting inhuman around normal beings.
" Well, i went to school and i tried hard to fit in. Adonis and Dylan looked after me, but they didn't know what i really was, and i was terrified of being caught shifting. Well, one day, the bullies in my year decided that i was a weak person, and that they should focus their new found power on me for a few years. They terrified me, but i soon became sick of their torments, and so, one day, my anger burst though me, and i shifted into a great lion. That scared them silly, and when i'd calmed enough to transform, i realised what i'd done, and the damage i'd caused. Plus, i'd managed to shred my clothes, so i had to shift again and run home. After that, they left me alone, but i was always getting called freak and older guys started to pick on me. Several times i shifted to scare them off. It always worked, to an extent, but they always came back again, and i could never shift back to a human becuase of that whole 'shredding clothes' thing that happens when you transform. Now that's a pain. " He turned and grinned lightly at Abbey, but the past had always haunted him. " I moved here by myself after my dad died and my brothers and sisters started to go off in their sperate ways. I've always wanted to be a vet, so i've been training. Here, i don't feel so much a freak, and it's easier to fit in. My brothers always accepted me, but it's hard to trust. " He said, considering Abbey for a moment then smiling again. " I hope i havn't darkened your night. So to speak. " He joked, he knew his story wasn't all happy, but it wasn't all bad either. He had learned to accept it now, but, like he'd said, it was very hard to know who to trust anymore.
" In fact you might get to meet Logan soon. He sent me a message the other day to say he's coming up here to stay for a while You'd like him. " He added slyly, grinning.

The twenty-one year old hummed gently to himself as he crossed the huge meadow. Sunlight was just beginning to touch the tips of the leaves, painting them in misty gold, and the land was beginning to wake up in anticipation of the day. The trees sighed in a gentle wind that lifted their sleepy leaves and cooled the stuffy air. Today was gonna be one hell of a hot day.
Logan felt the light wind muse his mohogany hair, the morning light highlighted the golden streaks. His misty blue orbs searched the forest before him, looking for a sign of life within it's ancient walls. His long strides took him toward the edges of the forest within minutes, and he entered the realm of the forest withou worry. A light mist was creeping over the undergrowth, engulfing the dead leaves and old twigs scattered as debrie on the forests carpet. Every step was muffled by this mist, but Logan ignored it. His dull human senses worked on overtime as he stained to see though the semi-darkness that was much more intense and concentrated without the open spaces to dilute it with light.
Logan paused for a second, his ears straining, reaching, and finally, he was sure he heard the sound he wanted to hear. The light crunching of decaying leaves and twigs beneath hooves, much too heavy for that of a deer, the kind of creature that was usually in the forest at this time. Yes, Logan knew who and what this was. He'd arrived at his twin brothers new house just yesterday afternoon, but had not seen nor heard from his brother since last week, when he'd begged to be allowed down to stay. Logan had settled in his two horses beside his brothers in the stables behind the large house, and looked all over the countryside in hope of finding him. Yet all Logan had found was a couple of dogs, who where obviously Leo's, and the horses round the back. So, Logan had waited till night before going out to search the fields and forests, where he knew Leo would wander as a shapeshifter with the darkness as his friend.
" leo? " He called out, in the hope that his brother would come forwards to him. Logan stumbled forwards over a loarge root, and suddenly caught sight of two shadows. They where obviously horses, and incredibly beautiful one's at that, but Logan was looking for a solitary figure, so they couldn't be Leo. Sighing, Logan watched his breath appear as a cloud before his blue eyes. It was much colder in the forest. Yet instead of turning back, Logan drew closer to the horses. He still loved animals, and prehaps these two where tame. It was odd how they moved together, almost as one, and as he got closer, Logan could hear them whickering to each other. Odd. As it drew closer still, he also noticed how the larger stallion was a hot chestnut, like Leo was when he was a horse, and how the eyes of the horse where bright, vivid green ... just like ... Leo's ....... where.
" LEO! " Logan shouted out, excited, and he hurried forward to greet him properly.

Post by Abbey Sue Benson on Sept 1, 2009 23:02:16 GMT 10
As he began to tell his tale, Abbey Sue couldn't help but look at him, her chocolate pools having changed to a pale blueish grey. However mysterious and out of place they may have looked, they managed to hold such emotion. Sympathy, sorrow, pain of her own hurtful memories. His story made her want to scoot over and give him a big hug, tell him that it was gonna be okay. But of course, horses couldn't exactly give hugs, so she simply gave him her attention, her ears, and her sympathy. Hopefully that would be enough for now. For while she had not spoken much of the darker times in her past, okay so not at all, that didn't mean they didn't exist. They did. And she only wished that they had never happened. But turning back time was just another of those impossible things. By the time he had but finished his tale, the fae had tears welling up in her misty blue eyes. She was pretty emotional like that, not that she ever let people know about that side of her. No, usually all people saw was the happy, smiling, bubbly side of the teen. It really was a rarity indeed to see her cry. As he smiled, speaking once more, perhaps in an attempt to lighten the mood a bit, she felt a single tear roll down her cheek, landing on the forest floor silently. She touched her maw to his cheek briefly, before bringin back her crown. She smiled slightly. "No, of course not, my friend." She said, before looking up at the sky above them, noticing how close to dawn it was getting. Looking back at the stag, she couldn't help but chuckle softly. "Actually, if you'll notice, my night seems to have gotten lighter since I met you." She said, her voice stealing the same lightly joking tone, the smile on her lips growing slightly. Okay, so it was a rubbish call, but hey, it's the best she could do at a time like this. Plus, they needed a little humour to soften the gloom and doom, even if it was horrible beyong belief.
She looked over at him, hoping he understood that she knew how he felt. There had been times in her life too where she had been teased and riddiculed by her abilities, where she had been shunned and made outcast. She knew how hard it could be. And maybe she'd tell him one day. But for tonight, she thought that they had had enough war stories to tell. So she would leave her own for another time. For now, she was sure that she would be seeing the guy around again. She'd make sure of that. They were just so similar, that they were practically the same person. She could tell that they'd be good friends. As he spoke once more, his voice aquiring a sly tone to it, she couldn't help but smile, even though she narrowed her eyes at him in mock annoyance. Suddenly, she turned her auds as a faint sound reached them. She couldn't believe it. More footsteps, though these were definately human. As if some human would be walking around in the middle of the woods at a time like this. Seriously. What were the odds. She looked to Leo, but he simply walked on. As long as he was right there beside her, she felt better about this possible human encounter. She felt safer with a strong brute like him around. Not that he was anywhere near brutish. A call reached them and the fae stopped in her tracks. You had to be kidding me. Another person looking for Leo. She looked at him with a curious look on her features. "Jeez boy, how many people do you know around here?" She said jokingly, before turning her head back round to see a single figure heading towards them. Remembering the basics, she quickly closed her eyes, before opening them again, returning them to that same dark brown colour. Taking a deep breath, she exhaled a bit too quickly, resulting in a rather loud sigh, snort sort of thing, but whatever. At least it sounded horselike.
Abbey Sue watched as the guy seemed to spot them and slowly started towards them. She stood fast, happy not to move from her position slightly behind the chestnut stallion. Then he spoke. Not Leo, but the other guy. Damn. Well, guess she couldn't really have expected him not to recognise him. What with those green eyes of his. She would definately need to have a little chat to him about that. After all, mose horses didn't have green eyes. usually, if you're trying to blend in, you don't leave important matters like that unattended. Oh well. It was a good thing that he seemed to know both the people they had come across in any case. As the stranger rushed forwards, Abbey Sue found herself taking a hesitant step back, though she didn't move any further than that. If she did, she would have lost sight of the marvelous looking creature that had just disturbed them. She couldn't help but look him over quickly. To see if he was any sort of a threat of course. But no, he didn't look all that scary. Nope. Although he did look mighty fine from where she was standing. Tall, muscular (though not overly buff), he definately had a good body. But the thing that drew her the most was his eyes. They were just so prettiful. A gorgeous light blue. They made her want to drown in them. In fact, she was so caught up in them that she didn't even notice when her own eyes had changed back to their usual bright aquamarine hue. She looked to Leo with a smile on her lips. "I'm guessing this is the brother you spoke about", she said, before taking another look at the stranger who now stood before them. She wondered if Leo looked like him, in his human form that is. They were brothers after all, so it was only natural for her to assume so. She didn't know why, but she suddenly had an urge to just walk over to him and touch that hair of his. It looked to perfect and soft. She wondered what it would be like to run her fingers through it.. Erm, or maybe not. Standing her ground, she waited for the brothers to do their thing. She wouldn't want to ruin their little bonding moment now would she? So she just stood there, waiting.

Leo chuckled, the sound coming out like a snort in his horm form. " Yeah, well i can't help being popular. " He joked in return as he nuzzled Abbey friendly and stepped forward to nudge his brothers shoulder. He had grown in the months that they'd been apart, and if Leo where to become human again, he would be smaller in height. He'd missed his brother terribly and he gave Logan a horsey impression of a grin. But how could they communicate. If he became human now, he would give both Abbey and Logan a sight of his bare body that they would not want to see. Leo pondered lightly then turned his head to look at Abbey for a moment.
" And yeah, this is Logan. Come and say hi, he's pretty friendly, i promise he won't try and kidnap you. " Leo grinned and almost added. Well i'm sure he would if he knew you where pretty. Leo could not possibly know what Abbey looked like inside her form, but he gathered she would be beautiful, for her horse form was exactly that. Especially her eyes. For a second, he was sure he was an apraising look in her eyes as they turned brown, then back to blue. Prehaps she liked the looks of Logan. It would be a good think, Leo thought, for Logan had been lonely for a long time and he was an incredibly sweet, sensitive guy. And Abbey certainly seemed just as nice. Suddenly Leo had an idea.
" Hold on, i will be back in two minutes! " He whinnied to Abbey and then turned on his haunches and took off into the forest, the opposite way to where they'd just walked from. He remembered walking down to the forest in human form as it'd still be light enough for people to see out their windows, and some people where still out and about. He'd taken off his clothes once safe alone in the darkness of the woods, having no wish to rip them in the change, and hidden them in a hole he'd found in a trunk. He was sure he could find them within minutes.
Leo used his hightened horsey instincts, allowed his nares to flare and catch his own scent on the gentle wind. His orbs hunted the area around him as the trees thinned, and he caught sight of the tree. Right, time to change. It would, of course, take longer to run back, but at least he'd be able to greet his brother in the same language. He could always change back to a horse afterward to continue walking with Abbey. Silently, Leo felt the cold shiver run up his spine and welcomed it, shutting his orbs to the world and feeling the air shimmer around him. He pulled up his back legs just in time to hit the ground on his human legs. He opened his orbs. The darkness seemed more intense now that he had duller human sense, and it was less welcoming. The air seemed stuffy and close. Leo shivered and pulled on his simple outfit, his favourite jeans and a short-sleaved plain black t-shirt. He had walked here bare footed, and so he would be walking back as that.
Leo grinned in anticipation, running a hand through his windswept mahogany hair and lept into a spring, racing back. It was harder now to remember the path, and Leo paused many times to decipher his hoofprints in the dark. Light was only just beginning to break into the forest and it warmed him slightly. Finally, he broke through two close oak trees to arrive back where Abbey and Logan waited.
" Long time no see. " He grinned at his brother and hugged him joyfully. He felt like a little boy again, sharing his toys with his brother after his toy had been broken. Leo pulled back, still grinning and looked up at him. Leo, in human form, was only 5ft8 .. and a half, as he always persisited. Logan appeared to have grown to about 5ft10 and Leo frowned playfully. " Stop growing! It's not fair! " He complained, reaching up to muse his brothers hair. Logan had a simular style to himself, but Leo's was darker with no honey highlights and a lot tidier .. sometimes.
" This is Abbey Sue Benson by the way. " He smiled, introducing the mare behind him and turning so that she was more included in the convosation. He wondered vaugely what she thought of him now, and if he looked like you;d think. Certainly his smaller height would be a surprise, but he had boyishly good looks and his vivid emerald orbs suited him more with his human face. He was slighter than his brother, but then again, he didn't play rugby, and his eyes where slightly larger than Logans. He knew what Logan would think, what with him and Abbey walking alone together in the night ... well, morning now. " We just met, but we're already pretty good mates.
