[/b][/right]Eighteen months ago, Magneto and his Brotherhood of Mutants attacked the Alcatraz-based facility owned and operated by Worthington Labs. The attack, while premeditated, was poorly thought out as Magneto relied on brute force and surprise alone.
He who desires victory, should carefully train his soldiers.
The vicious battle dealt a devastating blow to the United States. The battle left an estimated 1300 humans dead; an unknown number of mutants lost their lives. However, it was the result of Magneto’s attempted assault that left many mutants involuntarily cured or deceased that led to an even larger aggravation: the re-introduction of the MRA.
Congress called an emergency session and dusted off the tabled MRA and passed the bill immediately following the Alcatraz attack. However, when it reached the offices of President McKenna it was vetoed; primarily due to a visit from Charles Xavier and his X-Men some many months before. Outraged, the public demanded justice, revenge, compensation. President McKenna went off the beaten track and brought in an infamous soldier.

[/b][/right]Twelve months ago, Col. Nicholas Fury took the first step in putting together a group of superhumans that now form the Avenger Initiative. However, the seasoned Colonel quickly realized that both the mutant and superhuman threat required more than even his superhuman Avengers could provide. With this thought in mind, Col. Fury formed the Superhuman Response Unit (SRU), a group of special agents tasked with containing, and in some cases, eliminating the superhuman threat some three months after his Avengers first gained national attention.
While the country, and even the rest of the world, continues to struggle with this strained relationship between superhumans/mutants and humans, more and more people are forced to take a stand.
