There's a face behind the mask we wear
(the looks)
hair: Her hair changes quite frequently, but usually it is quite long, light brown in colour and either dead straight or curled in riglets, depending on the occasion.
eyes: Her eyes are her favourite thing to change about herself and does so daily. However, for the most part, they are a bright blue.
metal and ink: She has her ears pierced, and hoped to get her bellybutton done when she's less terrified.
height and weight: She is 5'4 in height and weighs in at 98 pounds.
distinguishing features: Her eyes and her lips.
overall: At first galnce, Abbey Sue seems just like any other teenage girl. However, that couldn't be further from the truth. While her father can subconsciously change small things about his appearance, like his eye colour or hair, her powers are much stronger. To put it simply, she is a shape shifter. She can consciously change from her human form to anything she wants. Usually she'll change into something that fits with the mood she's in, but it could be anything. However, for the most part, she stays as a human. As a human, she is naturally quite beautiful, and doesn't really need to change anything in that area. Her hair is a light brown, although she'll change this to suit the mood she's in sometimes. From small changes like a shade lighter or a shade darker, to something much more noticable like blonde or ginger. In fact, she's even turned it pink and blue on seperate ocassions. Naturally, it's already quite straight, with a slight wave to it, however she'll usually change this to either dead straight, or curled in ringlets. This of course depends on what the situation calls for. Her eyes would have to be her favourite thing to change, as well as one of her more distinct features. Nobody really knows what her natural eye colour is, as even when she was first born, her eyes woud change depending on her mood. Sometimes they would be a bright blue, others a sea green. Other times again they would be hazel, or brown. However, for the most part, they remain a beautiful bright blue, one of her favourite colours.
Her skin has that perfect porcelain look and is usually fairly tanned, in the sense that she is never really pale. This mainly comes just from being out in the sun quite a lot, or created by herself during the colder wintery months. Abbey sue isn't exactly all that tall, just 5'4, just has never really wanted to be any taller, though she could easily change her height if she wanted. She has been told that she is too thin, weighing in at 98 pounds, many times in fact, but she doesn't think so. Sure, she's lean, but she's never really made an effort to stay that way. She simply prefers to eat healthy and does a lot of exercise through out the week, including swimming and dancing. Not to mention her regular shopping sprees. Speaking of fashion, it's something that interests Abbey greatly. Well not so much interests, but she does make sure to keep with the latests fashions when she can. Her dress sense is quite modern, usually wearing the newest and greatest trends. However, her clothes are also usually quite colourful and almost childish. They suit her bubbly and outgoing personality and make her really stand out in a crowd, if she didn't already. They also make her look younger than is actually is, when she feels like it that is. While she is actually eighteen, with her adorable and colourful looks, she could easily pass for sixteen, younger even perhaps. This being said, when she wants to look older, like when clubbing or going to movies, she will make sure that she passes for eighteen at least.
Then there's the other side of her. The shape changing side. Of course, you can never really tell what she's going to look like as she can easily change into someone else. However she can just as easily change into an animal. Any animal. But there are some animals she changes into more than others, her favourites. When she's in a good mood, you'll often see her changing into a wolf or a horse, although she also quite commonly turns into a wolverine, a cougar or a falcon. But like previously mentioned, it really does depend on where she is, what she's doing, and of course what her mood is. Usually when she shape shifts, the pelt, coat or feathers of her animal form are a light brown, just like her natural hair colour, or something similar, unless of course there is no other colours. Like hippos for example, not that she's ever really felt the need to change into a hippo. Plus, it would probably be quite strange, seeing a hippo in the middle of the city. However, no matter what colour she is, her eyes will usually remain the same bright blue or sea green, which can be used to distinguish her in her animal form. There are times of course, when she'll change anything that makes her form extraordinary, to keep from being recognised or noticed. After all, she is quite secretive about her powers and usually avoids having anyone find out about them, and will do whatever it takes to keep it that way.

And when you feel the wall cannot be burned
(the quirks)
likes: Jelly, music, shoes, cute fluffy animals, water, plush toys, acting, cooking, playing the piano, ice-cream, going out, word finds, being noticed, colours, having fun, parties!
dislikes: Green vegetables of any sort, being stuck at home with nothing to do, being bored, maths, thunder storms, the dark, loud (unexpected) noises, cleaning, money (or rather not having any), failing.
strengths: Witty, her cuteness, languages, shape changing powers!
weaknesses: Baby animals, guys, shoes.
fears: Losing her ability to shapeshift, not being liked.
personality: Outgoing. This is one bubbly little lass. Seriously guys, if she was a bubble, she'd be the bubbliest bubble around. Being outgoing, it's not unusual for her to just walk over and say hi, especially if you're alone. She doesn't like being by herself, and doesn't want others to have to go through the same thing if she can help it, so yeah, she'll often just introduce herself. She's very friendly, and making friends is as easy as breathing to her. Of course, there are a few peple with whom she doesn't get along with, or not immediately at least, but it's not like her to hate someone. She'd much rather peace and love over war.
Secretive. You wouldn't expect it of her, but yes, she is quite secretive. Most of all, about her ability to shape shift. There are a few things in her past that she just doesn't like to share with others, well except for her closest friends. With her 'powers', it's definately not something she likes to go round bragging about. In fact, she'd much prefer it if nobody knew about it. If anything, Abbey Sue just wants to be treated like a normal kid, and not like some shape changing freak. She's had bad reactions from people in the past when they've found out what she is, so she only tells those she really trusts. However, once she gets to know and trust you enough, she's more or less an open book.
Loyal. If there's one thing this girl is, it's loyal. Once you're in her good books, you're there to stay. Though friendly, she is quite careful of whom she befriends, and once she counts you as one, that's not a status easily lost or forgotten. She is also very protective over those she cares about and will do anything to help them. So if you are planning on hurting one of her buds, you'd better beware, she can turn into one mean cougar when she feels like it. She also tends to fuss over her friends a lot, and it doesn't mter whether it's just a small scratch or bug bite, she'll usually freak out whenever someone gets hurt and acts as if their dying. Yeah, she can get a little carried away at times.
Actress. With her abilities, it's hard for her not to be. Ever since she was little, she's always loved 'dressing up' in other peoples skins and pretending to be someone different, someone new. Perhaps it was just her way of getting out of her own life, during the worse moments of it, and coping with everything. It was just easier to be someone else. Even now there are times when she'll pretend to be someone else for a while, whether their older, younger, funnier, sadder. Just someone else. However, it's also been a way for her to learn more about the world, something which has always interested her. She can change into any animal she wants, see how they live, how they coexsist with other species, to see how they live. It also means that now she can, while not speak, but understand the methods of communication between a couple of her favourite species, including equines and canines.
Overall, she's a pretty fun person to be around. She'll always try to make you smile, and can be one of the best friends you've ever had. She's usually very happy and positive too, finding that silver lining, but like with everyone, there are times when she's feeling a bit blue and down in the dumps. But just give her some company and she'll usually get over it pretty quick. She's smart, in that intelligent witty sort of way. She's not really good at math-sy subjects, but knows a lot about different animals and the environment and will learn how to things pretty quick. She is also very sweet and loving, and will never turn her back to a friend in need and always does her best to help. So say hello one day, and you might just find a new friend for life. <33

You're gonna die to try what can't be done
(the history)
parents: Melissa and Brad (mom & dad)
siblings: Jack (older brother)
significant others: N/A
history: Ok, so Abbey Sue had a pretty average start to life. She was born into a family of four, and was the youngest of the two children, with just an older brother, Jack. Her parents, Melissa and Brad loved her from the very start, although even then they knew she was different. It was pretty hard to notice, but they knew what to look for. Her eyes kept changing colour. Depending on whether she was hungry, or tired, or cranky, the colour of her eyes would change. From blue, to green, even purple once. Of course, she was a healthy little bub and her parents took her home as soon as they could. As far as anyone else was concerned, she was a perfectly normal, healthy, human, baby girl. As it turned out, her grandmother had been a shapeshifter. The gene, or whatever it was, seemed to have skipped a generation and decided to present itself in her. Although, her father did seem to inherit some of the ability, being able to subconsciously change the colour of his eyes or hair. But with Abbey, oh they knew exactly what she was. This didn't mean that they treated her any differently of course, but there was a few things they had to teach her quite early on. For one, keeping her temper. Once, as a toddler, she had accidently turned into a bear cub during one of her temper tantrums. They definitely didn't need this happening out in public, of course. Her parents had to teach her to control her emotions, and her powers. They taught her how to keep herself under control, and how to prevent changing when she didn't want to.
So during her first few years, they had mainly kept her at home. Back in New York, her father had owned a major web design company. But after Abbey was born, they had left the city apartment and moved to the country. Abbey's grandmother had died a few years back, and she had left her farm to them. Of course, they had continued living in the city, it had just been easier. With work and school, everything was just closer and more convenient. But now, the ranch was perfect. Surrounded by dense woodland, with a two minute drive just to get to the main road, it was the perfect spot to raise the young shapeshifter. At least there she'd get the privacy she needed, any from the prying eyes of the public. So the farm was where she grew up, but also where she learnt to control her ability and use it to her benefit. There were always plenty of animals on the farm. From cows, to chicken, a couple of goats even. But her favourites were always the horse. They only had the four, but Abbey spent more time with them than any of the others. There were days were she'd even spend more time with them than her own family. She was young then, still not at school, but she seemed to have a connection with the horses. She'd often change into one and run around the large paddock with them, playing. She even managed to learn their language, if you could call it that, understand their way of communicating. Learnt to understand, but also to speak. She knew how to make them do things, make them listen to her, in a way that some of the worlds best trainers would die for.
However, nobody ever found out about her way with horses. To her family it seemed that she spent a lot of time with them, and that they had gotten used to her. They didn't know about her influence over them. And it would stay that way. When she was five, she started school. By then she could already control when she changed and knew how to keep her emotions intact. Plus, it's not like she got angry or anything all that often. School was pretty easy for her. She was smart, so getting good grades was pretty simple, and with her sweet and friendly personality, she had tons of friends. The next few years were a breeze. It was a little harder when she entered high school. Luckily, being the fairly small town that it was, most of her friends continued on to the same high school as her. Though a littler harder, with a little more work, high school too passed rather quickly. Of course, Abbey Sue too like many of her friends had a boyfriend or two, though none of them really lasted all that long. Then in year eleven, she fell in love. He was new to the school that year, his family going through that whole sea change phase, moving from the city to the country. From that first day, the first time their eyes met as he was introduced to the class, she knew that they were meant to be. He was gorgeous, tall, dark. His name was William. Every time she thought about him she couldn't help but smile, and feel all warm and tingly inside. At first she just crushed over him from a distance, but then finally, he asked her out.
She couldn't believe it at first. She was going out with the hottest and fast becoming most popular guy at school. Or in her year level at least. Everyone said what a perfect couple they made. Both beautiful, both smart, both completely in love. However she noticed that he would often get quite irritated at even the smallest of things. Normally he was so sweet, so kind, but then there were these times when he would just lose his temper and turn into someone so different it was scary. Then there were other times when he would just down right leave for a while, without any explanation, and then come back and pretend nothing had happened. After a few months, she grew tired of his behaviour, his mood swings, his personality changes and confronted him about it. He just shrugged her off, saying that he didn't want to talk about it, that it didn't concern her. She grew angry, her rage fueled on by his stupidity, his insensitivity, his rudeness. She changed. For the first time in years, she couldn't control her emotions. She changed into a cougar, and everything went blank. She was in such a blind rage that she completely forgot who she was, who he was, everything. She doesn't remember what happened, but when she woke up the next day, she was somewhere in the middle of the woods. Her clothes were ripped, and smeared in what looked like red paint. Then she realised it was blood. She remembered her fight with Will, she remembered how angry she had been, and everything started to make sense.
Luckily, things hadn't happened as she had thought. Turns out Will was actually a werewolf and had managed to fight her off. Of course, he healed pretty quickly, but he still had to go to hospital for a while. Wanting to protect her, he had said that he had been attacked by a wolf out on one of the walking tracks, but that he had managed to climb up a tree and away. He didn't mention Abbey Sue at all. While grateful that he had done all that just for her, she felt that she didn't deserve it. She didn't deserve him. They broke up soon after. While she knew that he would never tell anyone about her shapeshifting, probably for fear that she'd tell them about him being a werewolf, she couldn't stand being around him any longer. Once school finished for the year, she tried convincing her parents to move elsewhere, but they were happy right where they were. So she left by herself. At first she travelled around a bit, but then as the holidays started coming to an end, she decided to move in with her older brother, who had moved back to New York for uni. Of course, she didn't plan on staying in the city, it just wasn't for her. But she held out, living with him in their New York apartment for a year, until she had finished high school. She graduated well, with one of the highest marks at her school. Having received the marks she needed, the teen moved to Kentucky, where she wanted to study veterinary science at the uni there, specialising in equines. She had always wanted to be a vet, and to work with horses, so this was perfect for her. So this is how she came to be where she is now. Soon to move into the ranch that her parents bought her, with everything going right to plan. Or, for now at least.

Gonna stay stay out but you don't care
(the evidence)
roleplay sample: from my old horse herd rpg.
Nares picked up the scent of another, probably drifting in with the wind. However, the scent was quite strong one, and there was hardly a breeze, despite the onpour of rain. Turning his now murky brown crown, he noticed the figure of another. Squinting slightly as he tried to keep the rain out of his eyes so that he could see better, he realised that the equine was coming towards him. For a moment, he was almost surprised to see her walking towards him. He was so ordinary now, so unattractive. And that's just on the outside. How he felt on the inside was even worse. Just so, pathetic. He couldn't do a thing right lately, and when he did, it found a way to go wrong eventually. Perhaps it was just karma out to get him, though he had never really done anything to deserve such misery. What if karma had got him confused with another horse, an evil horse. Or maybe, he was paying for all the things his father did. Did that mean that his father was dead? That the blame and unpaid karma had transfered to him? Well he hoped so, not that he was having to pay for something he didn't do, but that the bastard was dead. Yes, that really would be a deam come true. Him. Dead.
Anyways, back to the mare. As she approached, closer and closer, he noticed that she was a mare, and quite a beautiful one at that. Her stormy coat matched the sky, but he could imagine what she would look like in the sun. Probably even more beautiful, if that was possible, but really he had no idea. All he knew was that she was a stranger to him. Then again, probably everyone he would meet would be unknown in his memory. A world of strangers. But that's because he was new to this land. He had never come across it before, or if he did, he didn't remember it. So yes, it must be a new land. Which would really make him the stranger, the newcomer. For all he knew, the mare could have lived there for years and years. Perhaps she was queen of this new land. She was beautiful enough. However, now, seeing her in much more detail, he could see that she didn't look like much of a queen, if she even was one. For one, she was much too sad. She looked so down, so depressed, that it made him feel all the worse. How he could be so selfish, so absorbed in his own misery when there were such pretty maidens such as this one who were also sad. Just another of his many faults he figured.
He began to wonder why she seemed so sad. Orbs searched her and his mind somehow put together an answer. It looked like she was suffering from a broken heart. He knew the feeling well, having gone through it many times before. His own heart was still shattered, the glue holding it together hardly managing to keep it in one piece. Yes, it seemed that everytime he managed to put it together, another fa would come and knock it off the table, leaving it broken once more. Sometimes he didn't know why he bothered. Surely it would be easier to just never love. Yet, he couldn't help it. He needed to be loved, to feel that warmth inside. It was part of who he was. He had always been kind, and sweet and good tempered. But, some, or ratehr most, simply took advantage of that. Now, when once he would have been cheerful and just happy to be alive and well, he was almost constantly travelling under his own personal rain cloud, making the world seem just that more dark and dull, lacking any hint of light and warmth. It was a pretty pathetic existence, that much he knew well, but he was a rather pathetic horse so it seemed to fit him quite well. Even if it wasn't the life he wanted. Not at all.
Femmora stopped before him and almost at once began to speak. Lyri reached his slightly flattened auds and made them perk. Her voice, so sweet and soft. Yet to the point. He liked that. It was so unlike the speech of most. Most horses, well the light ones anyway, spoke in a way that he found almost amusing. It was simply unnecessary in his eyes. So polite, so elequent, so, fake. He knew that for most, it was simply how they grew up. You don't see a lot of lights that are from bad families. Maybe they were brought up to say their 'greetings' and their 'how are you fairing on this fine mornings', but really, what was the point when it sounded like something you just pulled out from your rear end in order to woo a pretty maiden. Thinking back, he realised that he had once been quite similar, trying to be polite, no matter the equine he was talking to. However, it would appear that over the years, along with his lack of enthusiasm for life in general, he also lost most of that rubbishy speech. No, now he couldn't really be bothered. He often wonders if things would be different, if he were say, a palamino or a creamy instead of a bucksin. If his herd hadn't rejected him like they did. Perhaps he would be just like them. How terrible.
Realising that he was just sort of standing there, he decided to say something. The first thing that came into his mind. "Well hello there". Really, he had no idea what to say. Usually he was all for small talk, but he had nothing now. What brings a gorgeous maiden such as yourself to a place like this? Nice weather today, is it not? He couldn't help but chuckle at the conversation going on in his mind, his gaze dropping to the ground. Oh, so many things he could say, would've said, but somehow none of them seemed to fit. Suddenly realising that he was not alone, and that he had just randomly chuckled, he looked up at the fae once more. He hoped that she didn't think that he had laughed at her. No, he would never do such a thing. It just wasn't part of who he was. He knew he should probably correct himself, or apologise, or something, but that would just make it look like he had in fact laughed at her and then realised and was trying to cover it up. Which isn't what he wanted either. Oh, what to do, what to say. "Eh, sorry about that. Just remembered a joke that a friend told me.." he said quickly. He tried smiling, tried to be convincing, but he was pretty sure he failed at that. It was a pretty weak smile in any case.
Oh he was just screwing this up more and more, wasn't he. He should just turn away and run. But then what would she think of him. That he had run away from her? No. He couldn't leave now. He shifted his weight from one side to the other, not knowing what to do, not wanting to go, but wanting to move. What to do now. He had pretty much completely screwed up his chance of having a decent conversation with the mare. Wait, why did he even want to talk to her? She was just some stranger. For all he knew, she could be some psychopathic maniac ready to kill him dare he even blink. He smiled a bit more, orbs searching for her gaze. Looking into her eyes, he realised that there was nothing crazy about her. Well, not that he could see anyway. To him, she just seemed a bit down, lonely perhaps. Some one like him? Maybe that's why he was drawn to her. He imagined.. Ah, but imagining did the stag no good. Even he knew that. All the imagining in the world wouldn't change a thing. If someone was wicked, they were wicked. If someone had a really annoying laugh that you couldn't stand, then there's no ignoring it either. If someone was gone… Well, sure, you could imagine what life would've been like if she had stayed, but what was the point. She was gone. There was nothing he could do about it.
Sighing, the stag dropped his gaze to the ground again. He was fed up with this. This, missing her. It was tearing him up inside. He tried to forget, he truly did. But every time his shredded heart tried to mend itself, he'd see something, or hear something, or do something that would remind him of her and he'd go straight back to square one. It was terrible. He hated it. What more, it made him hate himself. For it was him that had left her, that didn't wait for her to wake like he should have. No, he could never hate her, never would. But himself, he could hate with all his heart. Or what was left of it anyway. He wondered whether he would ever find someone. Someone else that is, to love. He shuddered at the mere thought of it. Not finding love, just the word. The one word that made him remember her all the more. The one word that made him feel like dying. Death, what a pleasant thing. He pushed away the thought angrily. He had been through all this. So many times before. Just leave it. But he couldn't, the feeling was still there, just kept reappearing. He closed his eyes for a few seconds, though it seemed like hours. He focused all his attention on trying to get rid of the feeling, to just let go. Obviously, it didn't work. Opening his eyes, he was surprised to see two hooves in front of him.
The mare. Shit. He had forgotten all about her. In all the commotion of his mental conversation, his fight with himself and most important his failed attempt of trying to forget, he had actually forgotten about the mare. He wondered how much time had past since he last spoke. It seemed like forever, not even remembering the words he spoke. But it couldn't have been that long. A few seconds at most, if that? Oh, he really didn't know. No clue in fact. He just hoped that it hadn't been too long. She was still standing there after all, in the same position he had last seen her. Or so he thought. With him forgetting and all, he didn’t actually know whether or not she had moved. But it didn't look as if she had. And there he went again, thinking about everything a million different times before actually doing something. It annoyed him greatly. Couldn't he just once do something without analyzing every single aspect of it? Probably not. That was just how he was. Often going into these little repetitive conversations with himself. Like now. He looked up at the faes face, a slightly apologetic look in his eyes, though he didn't realise it, thinking instead on what to say, as he always did. "I'm Thalion, by the way, or Leo. Either way, is fine.." he could feel himself rambling on and closed his mouth.
Why could he not speak? Like, properly. Was he just that messed up, that caught up in his own thoughts? He grew frustrated, with himself of course, though the almost blank expression on his face wouldn't show it. No, he looked perfectly calm, composed. But boy was that far from the truth. Inside his head, it was a constant battle of thoughts, swirling around and jumbling everything up, until he lost track of time completely. Determined to keep his attention focused on the mare in front of him, he couldn't help but think of something to say. He wanted to ask so many questions. Like why she was sad, are where they were, and who the others were. And. Wait. What others. Surely there had to be others but, who? And where? He couldn't see anyone else. Who knows, maybe there were no others. But the gorgeous fae that she was, he couldn't imagine her travelling alone. But then again, why did her appearance even matter? It was good to be good looking, Leo himself knew that very well. Even though he had always hated his golden coat and his lush ebony mane and tail. But while it was a curse to him, a constant reminder of his disgusting conception, everyone else seemed to think that it was wonderful. Ha. Well good for them.
As the rain continued to fall upon his pelt, a strong wind picked up, tossing his tresses about and messing up his now water soaked banner. His heart seemed to sink just a little bit further down into the black pit that was now swallowing up the shattered pieces. Well. That's, just, perfect. Looking up, he watched the dark grey clouds gathering up in the heavens. It looked as if a storm was brewing. And here he was, with no idea where he was and whether or not there was any shelter. He sighed once more, wondering how on earth this day could get any worse. He decided not to think about it. It would probably just end up coming true, ruining his life just that little bit more, which was just what he needed right now. Not. Ah well, at least the mare was still here, keeping him company. Well, not so much at the moment, because he didn't know what to say, but yeah. At least he wasn't alone, again. He glanced around, hoping to see something interesting, something worth mentioning and speculating on. But there was nothing. Well, there was grass, but it's not like he was going to say, 'woah, look at that! it's grass! can you believe it?' no. "So, you from around here?" Not wanting things to get any more weird between them, for him at least, he decided to wait in silence for her reply.
